Petra is a housing project providing supported accommodation to young mothers and mothers-to-be. Petra homes are safe and secure, nurturing an environment where mums and babies can build strong and loving attachments. We strive to be inclusive, caring and welcoming for every family.

OUR APPROACH

Our homes provide low to medium support to prepare mums for independent living. We have a team of trauma informed professionals in house Monday to Friday from 10am to 2pm. They are equipped to provide nurturing and helpful guidance during these most vital early months.

“Within the year, mums are equipped ready to live independently with their child(ren) and can access our in-community support such as Petra weekly toddler group, ongoing access to our food bank, Action Pantry, and assistance with clothing from Clothesline.” - Emma, Residential Home Manager

We signpost our residents to the right places and help them with applications and paperwork.

We love seeing babies relationships with their dads nurtured too!

Play and celebration is an important part of our day.

When a family is ready to move on independently, we work with them to look at housing options, including private and social housing. We help our parents with grant applications for deposits, furniture and all they need to ensure they can move on well!

We will help you learn the skills you need to feel confident when the time comes for you to move on. From how to bleed a radiator to setting up bills, you will feel equipted and confident.

Petra is a home, not a hostel. It is a loving a safe environment for new families to thrive.
