London Marathon 2017

I am very pleased to introduce Tina Hill. For the first time, Mercy in Action has been allocated a highly sought after charity place in the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon and Tina has taken up the double challenge of completing the 26.2 mile course and raising valuable funds on our behalf.

Tina was delighted to take on this challenge; she has entered the ballot for a place in the London Marathon for the last 6 years and has missed out each time.  Tina said “I was never lucky enough to get in to the London Marathon but Mercy in Action changed that when they asked me to run on behalf of their wonderful charity- it will be a challenge, but I am delighted to be able to tick off a big thing on my bucket list and I am determined to do a great job of it and that is one reason why I ask you to sponsor me.”

Tina works as an Assistant Headteacher at Beaconsfield High School near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, where she teaches Graphic Design to the creative and enthusiastic students there. “I consider myself a very lucky lady to teach in such a lovely, dynamic and inspiring school and believe my job is about making the world a better place. All children need an education and the work of Mercy in Action really inspires me; they support children in desperate need, without food, without homes, without the love of a mother or father and without the joy of education. I ask you to sponsor me as by doing so you will change the lives of disadvantaged children; please help me to support Mercy in Action’s work – changing the lives of these children by bringing them food, shelter, love and an education.”

Training is going really well and Tina is being very well supported and encouraged by her husband, Stuart (who is a PE teacher!) She also has the company of her 2 dogs, Rudolf and Holly on her training runs. “Look out for me on my training runs along the Thames footpath between Marlow, Cookham and Henley and in Penn and Hughenden Woods. I have added pictures so you can recognise us – we are the Mercy in Action 2017 London Marathon team!”

If you want to support Tina in her incredible challenge, please do follow the link to her Just Giving fundraising page. Any amount you can spare to help her achieve her target will encourage and motivate her to stick with the training (even in the cold, wet winter weather) and give her a mental boost on race day!

Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see updates on Tina’s progress. Thanks for your support!
