Celebrating our new girls’ home

The search is finally over …

The Girls Home (soon to be renamed!) is home to 8 girls and 2 of our youngest boys, between the ages of 4 – 16. All of them have been rescued from abandonment, abuse and neglect.  For 6 months now we have been searching for a new house for them. Over the summer, we took two new girls into our care, and so we had outgrown the current house and needed somewhere with more space and better security.  Also, the house was right on a busy road, so we were looking for somewhere with more privacy.  All the places that we had found were either too expensive or just weren’t the right sort of building to provide our kids with the loving and safe environment they need.

But our prayers were answered when we found the perfect house just 5 minutes away from the current place.  It is sheltered down a quiet neighbourhood road, away from traffic, but still close to our Spring Village Centre, where the older boys live.  As soon as we had signed the lease with the landlord, our director Tim and his team got to work straight away, making necessary renovations.

On Sunday October 26th we had an ‘opening blessing’ for the house.  With the repairs and painting finished the house looks amazing!  The bright colours of the walls made everyone excited for the bright and wonderful futures that are in store for all the children that will live here.  The girls were proudly showing off their new bedrooms, their big open living spaces, and their impressive upstairs balcony!

UPDATE: As you may know from our Facebook page, the house (which we are currently renting) has been sold. We have been told that if we can match the offer, we can buy it. We would love to own it as this would mean stability for the children that live there.  In order to make this a reality, we need your help. We have set up a fundraising page just for the Girls’ Home Appeal. Please visit https://www.justgiving.com/Mercy-in-Action-UK1. Thank you for all your support.
