Christmas Shoebox Time!

Every year Mercy in Action sends a container load of useful items and resources over to our projects in the Philippines. As the container arrives in December, one of the main things we send are Christmas shoeboxes. These shoeboxes are donated by supporters all over the country and play a huge part in our Christmas celebrations in Cebu. For many of the children that we work with these boxes are the only presents they’ll receive each year. In general they contain essential food and toiletries for the whole family to share, as well as some special treats, sweets, toys and clothing.

Making shoeboxes is a really fun activity. You can do it on your own, with children or even throw a ‘shoebox party’ with some friends! Boxes can be sealed and wrapped in bright Christmas wrapping. Please label your box with the gender and age range it is suitable for, for example ‘Boy aged 5-10’ or ‘Girl aged 10-15’.

Our warehouse in Bath is accepting shoeboxes from now until Friday 17th October. Shoeboxes can also be dropped off at any of our shops around the country before Saturday 11th October.
