Charity Shop Team of the Year!

Chelsea Road are winners at the Charity Retail Awards 2014!

The Mercy in Action team would like to say a HUGE well done and thank you to the whole team at our Chelsea Road charity shop. They have won ‘Shop Team of the Year’ and ‘Best Shop Interior’ at the Charity Retail Awards 2014! The Charity Retail Association has around 350 members, representing over 7500 shops, so winning these awards is a massive achievement for all of us.

We nominated the shop due to the hard work of Jess and Vicki, the manager and assistant manager, and the commitment of their volunteers. And it seems that our passion for the shop and the shop’s passion for retail have shone through to the award committee. The shop has had a real turn around over the last 12 months with an extension to the selling space, a new team and a lot of redesigning.

The shop has established itself among the community by partnering with local schools and businesses to give young and/or unemployed people the chance to volunteer. This benefits both parties, as the shop couldn’t function without volunteers, and the participants gain key skills and experience to put on their CVs, with the aim of gaining paid employment elsewhere.

The shop now has a great vintage boutique feel that draws in many customers, no matter the season or the weather. The team work hard to ensure every window display is eye-catching and attractive, and every interior display is stunning and exceeds the expectations of charity shoppers. The shop runs regular events in store, with the best designer clothing, plus refreshments and exciting updates about Mercy in Action’s projects. The shop has a dedicated base of customers and donors. The donations that come through that door are amazing!

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the staff, volunteers, customers and donors who have made these awards possible. Without your hard work and generosity, the Chelsea Road shop could not run as it does. With your help, we are able to support more and more families in the Philippines to escape the cycle of poverty.

If you’re in Bath and haven’t yet visited the best ‘Shop Team of the Year’, then why not?! Come and say hi to Jess and Vicki and see what treasures are on sale. We are always in need of more donations and volunteers, so if you’re interested in helping out, please get in touch.
